SHADY ASS PROMOTERS
IN RESPONSE TO “WHAT HAPPENED AT CONTROL LAST NIGHT MIKEY?”
I can’t speak first hand since I wasn’t there, I can only speak out for those whom don’t have a loud enough voice in the scene to be heard; since of course i like to yell and scream until i get my point across. Luckily, I do know enough people in the scene for this to get read, and no, i don’t care if people end up hating me after reading this because shit needs to get said. Though I was not there last night, in addition to having A LOT of friends whom WERE there, I do have a twitter and felt inspector gadget enough to track newsfeed on the chaos that was happening this past friday. I will say this… when people buy a presale ticket to an event, they are not only putting their trust into the entertainment value of the party but the promotion company as well. If a promotion team (control fridays at avalon) decides that letting in pre sale ticket holders is of little importance, probably since they already have their money, then they must be punished for their actions.
Here is my take on what happened. Will call ticket holders had a separate line from those attendees who didn’t have tickets (but were willing to pay cash to get in). This much IS true. Now, the following is all speculation but I mean cmon, I’ve been in this scene for about 5 years now, not just as an attendee but as a promoter. At eleven o clock you have one line, an hour and a half long, with people who ALREADY paid 10-30 dollars for pre sales. YES $30 DOLLARS FOR PRE SALE TICKETS TO AVALON, THAT RIGHT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SIGN. but i digress… In another line you had a 2 hour line of people willing to pay $40. Economically, it would be in the promoters best financial interests to let the people in who were going to pay $40. For one, it’s a 200% gain right off the bat, and in some instances it’s 400 percent since pre sale tickets probably averaged 10-20 bucks (i doubt a lot of people bought the $30 tickets). Now, even more financial gains can be attributed if you factor in how many people WON’T bother calling their credit card companies to get a refund. In some ways you can think about it as doubling the occupancy of the night club without actually putting in double the amount of people, but still getting paid of course.
Why would they do that you ask? Don’t they know that they’ll lose a lot of supporters? Great question, but if you had to ask this it would also show the inexperience you have being in the party scene. Southern Californians are fucking dumb. They have no spine, they don’t believe in the power of influence one individual can have. If a party screws them over, they will piss and moan about it but TRUST ME, they will go to the promoter’s next party if a certain artist they like is performing. THIS HAPPENS ALLLLLLL THE TIME. They, the la and oc scene heads, have no principles.
Now.. whether it was their train of thought or not is irrelevant because I am only stating facts. I don’t know the promoters personally but I guarantee you that i’d still be saying this to them personally if I did; anyone that knows me personally can vouch for this. I Just used the word “personally” three times in one sentence, wait for it… LEGENDARY!!!! Don’t be cop outs and blame it on the venue, this has NOTHING to do with the venue. PLEASE DO NOT FABRICATE LIES TO CLEAR YOUR MISJUDGMENT. YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING CROOKS AND AT THE VERY LEAST I’D EXPECT A PUBLIC STATEMENT OF APOLOGY ON YOUR WEBSITE WITH INFORMATION ON HOW YOU WILL ISSUE A COMPLETE REFUND TO ALL PARTY GOERS WHOM BOUGHT TICKETS IN ADVANCE BUT WERE UNABLE TO ACTUALLY ATTEND THE PARTY BECAUSE OF YOUR SELFISH DECISIONS.
And let me tell you party attenders something whom still think the promoters at control are innocent in their actions. AS AN EVENT COORDINATOR YOU ARE SENT A NUMBER OF HOW MANY TICKETS YOU SOLD WITH A LIST OF INDIVIDUAL NAMES INCLUDED. It is VERY easy to get an estimate of how many people, who already bought tickets, will show up to your party IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO. It’s very easy. If your capacity is.. well to make things easy lets just say 100 and you sell 80 presales. how many people, WITHOUT PRESALES, should you let in BEFORE 11PM? is the answer A) 100 people? no thats fucking stupid math you idiot. B) 80 people? no are you an idiot? C) 50 people? sure if you don’t mind being an asshat to a few people, D) AT MOST 40 people? yeah this is probably the most optimal number of people. That way your most likely to hit capacity most efficiently by 11ish and YET even if you have about 20 pre sale ticket stragglers who don’t make it by 11pm, it will ONLY be about 20 whom have to wait in line (and hopefully you let them in the front of the line).
Lets put this into perspective using a current topic. Say you really want to see NEW MOON on opening night so you make the effort to go on fandango or whatever and purchase tickets. And for relational purposes lets just say the theater is only going to have ONE showing (i know ridiculous but you get the point). So you’re all set, you have tickets for the 8 o clock show, you get dressed, you pick up all your friends and get to the theater at 7:30 to wait in line. “OH DAMN LOOK AT THIS LINE! IT’S SUCH A GOOD THING WE ALREADY HAVE TICKETS”. Now, lets just say the theater was like… “well shit, here is the line of people who already have tickets.. but we have their money already so fuck them, let’s just let all these people in who are willing to pay DOUBLE!” “DOUBLE?” “YEAH DOUBLE CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?” “wow that sounds like a great idea, we’ll be rich. let’s do it!” “Oh and we can just tell them, oops we’re sorry everyone with a ticket, even though we know exactly how many tickets we sold.. we didn’t expect to sell out. BLAME THE SECURITY GUARDS, SEE YA! *as the theater managers run inside and count their money*”
with that said. FUCK ANY FRESH EVENT AND FUCK THE HEAT ULTRA LOUNGE. OH AND FUCK IT PRODUCTIONS TOO! And if you really think that i care about relationships with other promoters. I don’t. I’m a future doctor are you kidding me? All this shit is fucking trivial to me. My goal is only to speak out for others. THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD AND THE SHADY MOTHER FUCKERS MUST BE EXPLOITED!!!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA.
